Will Americans lost First 100 Sustainability Nations Status
Dear Parents - do you want children to still be born in 4 generations time?

If you look back to the first quarter century after world war 2 it would seem evident that
W Gremsny had been rebooted from rubble to a thriving connector of West Europe
The Far East had been rebooted round Jaoan Korea, superports operated by Chinese Diaspora.
That there was monetary hope around the world - if man and computing could race to the moon was anything impossible
Threats such as nuclear had so far been managed

In most of the above the generosity (positive momentum) of the american people had been  pivotal
JFK   (and even his legacy from 1963)

what happened next is American confidence got destroyed  both in its world role and at home- although the moon was landed on,
a second kennedy and  king were assasinated as were students - ( mass media started senstaionalizing fears - noth real and corrosive communally)

the vietnam war was the first war whose lingering purpose if any was unclear to the aemrican peoples
students at kent state were assasinated but Nixon caleed them bums- Nixon started the poison pill of cost of college education rising expoentially;
inner city spaces for youth also seemed to lose connection between dream and reality
and then came the oil shock and the resignation of Nixon
NOBODY SHOULD FORGET HOW MUCH AMERICANS HAD CONTRIBUTED
Without USA in the first two thirds of the 20th century it is really unclear where the human race would have got to; so what next

The Economist started debating a paradoxical way out - rational optimism navigating beyond the newly evident risks and the need to transition peace as not just USA's burden

A PROBLEM WITH THE FIRST INDUSTRIAL AGE WAS IT HAD BEEN DRIVEN IN THE OLD WORLD BY COLONISATION AS WELL AS IN BOTH WORLD BY INDUSTRISAL AGE EXPOENENTIALLY INCREASING EXTRACTION OF CARBON

In other words while a minority of humans had the opportunity to race to the moon, up to half still had no access to elcetricity grids

we need to celebrate models of ending such exclusion fast, the far east was showing how

1967-1974 Charles Schwab's World Economic Platform sgtarted to become particularly important in mediating connections across hemispheres

1967-1974 Nixon's one unquestionable acto of statemanship China became the responsibility of Kissinger to move forward

DARE WE REVISIT HISTORY OF OLD AND NEW WORLD SINCE 1500

BRITANNIA OR SMALL MEDIUM ENTERPRISES RULE THE WORLD

There may be many myths about JFK (was it really just over 50 years ago that a president's vision inspired congress to work for goals that united americans as well as states ) but:

he is to be celebrate as both president, and world leader,  who had a dream for livelihood freedoms for every human being ( an Amerucan Dream aligned to a global vilage world capable of sustaining human race)

did he understand that in post industrial age, very few marklets needed big national players? ; in other words markets like arms or building planes were the exceptions- communities of families can only thrive let alone be  safe and sustainable all over the world if small enterprsies have equal communication infrastructure opportunity with big organisations)

0:40
Astronaut Ron Garan poses massive collaboration challenge ( more http://spaceappschallenge.org/

might Kennedy if he had seen moon landing have argued that winning the race to the moon was the last time space industries needed over national competitions- what mattered how space on earth could be delivered through wireless technologie - eg mobile, solar - instead of grids which on huge continnts had been so unvenly distributed that they designed in poverty

As a diaspora scot, may i evoke our impudent trait of refusing to believe in forbidden questions; why is it in my life time i haven't met one American macroeconomist who begins to understand what Adam Smith meant by:

  1. Free market (ie where all producing and demanding actors trust each other due to transparency of costs and thos who do eveil to another getting thrown out of the system)
  2. Advantage of nations- where a nation has more resources than yours don't try to colonise it

WorldRecordJobs creatirs go space entre[preneurs go : Bezos Musk Branson

Australia starts space research not to launch rockets but because space tech has many apps back on earth

Unfortunately Industrial Revolution's Growth Ex[oentials Spread Opportunities to innovate Unevenly- while some were racing to the moon up ,in 1960s to half of peoples still had no access to electricity grids

To explore the future history questions of our era of going worldwide (ie of 4000+ moore communications tech 2030 versus 1946) it helps if we are clear how did some nations grow big up until the two world wars- 3 parameters that might explain big are population size, land size or monetary size

if we look at were once called the g8 monetarily-advanced nations

8 7 6 the old world's island nations of uk and japan grew big by mercantile colonising as did France-

5 Germany grew big by overland engineering, but not having been an early coloniser when it ran out of carbon and iron wars were its answer to not havingh enlough

4 Italy had by the start of millennium 2 grown out of ruling a physical empire- it tried to joyfully cross-polinate cultures across the med sea and as marco polo showed across the whole Eusrasian land mass "Silk Road"- an artistic joy permetated this west end of the world's most positive trading route while china's spices and silks were currencies that sustained this extraordinaru relay of hundreds of interlocking communities (roughly along latitude 30) - imagine several hundred trading stations along the Road where each people celebrated neighlors and kept passing traders safe- a place whose microculture didnt positively link in the trading chain was diverted round. Something worthy of anthropological study- the west end of the silk road maintained social order through various golded nule religions- the oriental end celebrated processes fotr finding your inner self in the bigger pictore of the ancestry of both region and family tree

3 Russia was by far the largest land mass nation in the world- lots of natural resources but much barely inhabitable bordering the arctic circle- through to start of 20th century Russia's main problem were sustaining its people in a world of poor communications and defending itself from attachs such as napoleons

2 From independence in 1776 to 1900 USA's growth was largesly self-contained; paradoxically insular apart from being an entirely immigant nations- most of the imigrants had come to America to escap[e being ruled over by big institutions- how states drew up their maps was not primaruly driven by effiency of nationwide world trade with the exception of a few states which floursished round coastal ports; Americans had two major underclass crises- white movements saw themselves superior especally to blacks; the reconcilaoition of the civil war missed out on one opportunity- southern states would have had much smoother development oppotrunities if there had been a southern currency as well as a northern one ; this lack of internal exchange mechanism held back infarstructure and educational devlopment of much of the south of USA.

It is notoceable that while the old world had at least a historic memeory of a win-win overland trade route connecting east and west; the america had no such north-south world traidn route. Hopefuilly nobody needs to be offended by the observation that the USA was fortunate that Canadians did an extrordinary collaborative job perhaps because being frozen in for half the year causes good neigborly spirits. However USA relied on guns and law not diversity within community building to become the worlds' biggest nation. Through to the start of the 20th century, its not really clear what culturally deep foreign affairs americans collectovely knew much about - either south to the rest of america or around the rest of the globe. Ironically and with hugely good grace, Americans were then called in to sort out world wars - their results and their consequences.

The period from 1945 -1965 has seen the great generosity of USA rebooting Euripe and Asia, with extraordinary patience to the two great engineering nations of Japan and Germany. Russia under Stalin was correctly perceived to be the greatest risk to peace of that time. China and South Asia where half the world's people lived were places extraordinaly few Americans had any idea of. Nor was the realtionship between USA and the big oil-excavating places of the middle east studied in a culturally empathic way.

Perhaps because of all the risks , Americans completely failed to understand what future sustainability opportunities and threats of the 5-way mix of "transportation" infrastruture:

trains, boats, cars , planes, space

Americans (with a mass media that was peculiarly insular and not invented here)  did not notice that the Japanese became 2nd largest nation by betting on the trading potential of supertrains and suoerports linking containerised shipping and leaps forward in both traidtional and electronic engineerins. This was actually the beginnings of a win-woin world trade exhnage with even nore potential than silks and spices. One that made the Chiense Diaspora 3rd wealtheis by 1975 and which enabled main land china - one fift's of the world's people - to come out and celebarte world tarde agian for the fisrt time in over 100 yeras. Back around 1860 China had closed itself to owrld trade in prefenrnce to accepting the peak dismal colonial control- accept aopium as a curency foir trading silks and spices
