Back in 2007, I accidentally discovered this question mattered more than thousands of questions I have researched in my professional work as a national opinion poller and consultant on research used in developing the world's largest new products, as well as markets which the European Union aimed to redesign throungh the 1990s and 2000s. My father whose favorite job was writing leadership surveys on technologists and mediators concerned with systemically ending poverty for The Economist started a graduate student journalst project. This later morphed into various publlications including the Adam Smith scholars journal of social busiens edited out of Glasgow University, as well as remembrance debriefings in Japan Embassies and other spaces where dad was most valued.Father's work was most valued in Japan as it became the first large economy to redouble its size in under a decade. It was there that he was awarded The Emperor's Orger of the Rising Sun with gold bars; although dad had done some scriptwriting for Prince Charles and others whose mother tongue was English, dad had mixed feeling about calling himself Commander of the British Empire since he felt two world wars had been caused by the need for the 2oth century to end colonistaion and reboot all the nations that had been left underdeveloped (or in conflict with each other) by the way that the mercantile era from 1500 had ruled the world.
Being to ill to go himself Norman Macrae sponsored 10 student journalists from 2207 to do surveys in Bangaldesh and China- dad's knowledge of the East which had started as a teenager navigating airplanes in world war 2 over modernday myanmar and bangladesh saw these two nations as having discovered miraculous development solutions that half the world's people whose lives depended on conections with south or east asian coastal belts needed digital and real community worlds to celebrate by mobilising financial and education revolution. In what follows the left hand column clarifies chronological origins of this question that were specifically cited in the youth surveys; in the right hand column back from the future partnerships all of us are searching out round the games of missing sustainability solutions youth will need tol celebrate as they become lifelong teachers and students

 to transfer and

NormanMacrae Resrarch finding: student journalists of Entreprenurial Revolution's women empowerent networking inspired by Bangladesh started with educators and youth looking for missing solutions. Muhammad Yunus who had studied economics as a Fulbright scholar at VanDerBilt (originally founded as America's Belt Road Uni) famously tore up the macroeconomic textbooks he was teaching at Chittagong Univerity in 1974. Outisde the classroom a  million people (mainly womn and choldren) were dying of famine. It was alreday clear by the 1970s that US macroeconomic curricula had zero answers to ending Asian village poverty so Dr Yunus took his students out of classroom to experientially learn in the villages.

7 years of concept testing of Action Learning

Student experiments with isolated womens lending circles started in 1976 as the Grameen project thow to replace loan sharks with savings and loans.

2.7K views10 years ago

It wasn't until 1983 that Yunus and his students had an interconnected curriculum of livelihood microfranchises, 16 decision cultural values and weekly accounting process of circles of 60 village mothers  operating their own farmers market

Actually Yunus' quest for what sustainbility solutions can teachers and village students co-create was preceded by Fazle Abed - a graduate of Adam Smith's University of Glasgow circa 1960. Back in 1972 Fazle Abed had decided he wanted to devote the rest of his life to the question- having experienced organisation of disaster relief (cyclonE killing half a million people 1970) first hand what solUions do vilagers need next if they are to move beyond disaster through poverty to sustaining rural development. Between 1972 and 1979 Fazle Abed lived in a rural region testing as many as 30 concept solutions. In his previous professional life Abed had been the national CEO of the Shell oil comoany so he was aware that China and others were advancing green revolutions with crop science and barefoot vilage doctors networks.  Bangladesh's culture of the time did not permit village mothers to leave their vilages so it was natural to test concept village development solutions with the vilages mothers and daughters. It became clear to fazle that some of these solutions could become income generating microfranchsies for the village mothers to learn provided market's value chains were trabsformed to value their extraordinary communal wherewithal; others involved pure learning that needed to be person to person networked. All of Banladesh's grassroots village womens networking had to be person to person as 20th c Bnagldesh vilages had no access to electricity grids and so no telecommuinications. BY 1979 BRac's staff and viloage mothers as studnets had discovered the missing solutions for sustaining their vilage development and it was Fazle Abed who first invented the models of bootom up aid neeeded to scale through 300000 villages. Our journalists found that it was abed , the enginner , the archiotect, that relentless built the bottom-up systems of Bangladesh vilage empowerents; it was yunus that became the greatest storyteller for the poor

Once our journalists understood that both BRAC and Grameen were  action learning networks  dicsovering  missing solutions of sustainability, it was natural to ask why had the western academia and aid never presented women empowerment in this way? There were many missed opportunitoes :

  • from 1997 microcreditsummit- why targeted at bankers? why only fundraising stories? why nearly 20 annual conferences gioested by high society's Hilary Clinton and Queen Sofa- did yunus never share his work in the form of a missing curriculum'
  • from 2002 skoll world championships -skoll who made his billions as first ceo of ebay wanted to give back - he originally designed sponsored 4 hours of videos of yunus and fazle abed as cases of social entrepreneurs who scale, (strangel the origin of ashoka had been founded to celebrate aroung 99% non-scaleable good works) world championships emerged out of Oxford, but even as laureates included south africa's free university's Blecher family with their "missong" currocula and mandela extranet, and online learning sal khan, skoll has never taken up the missing curricula position even as his learning curve out of usa west coast could have criss crossesdwith jack ma's many times but didnt because skoll's story is unlike any other internet billionaire we have encountered)
  • back to a yunus lunchtime in paris in 2005: leading corporations in paris and HEC busiens school asked yunus if he would held design the world's first sustainability MBA celebrating bottom uop system designs however opposite to the big banking curiculum of MBA - while Yunus said yes he never partnered with HEC in a way that could help them establish the credibility of this as a certifiable curriculum - he uses academic partnerships to fund from indidually not to help their studnts connect
  • in 2009 i attended ashden awards chaired by prince charles citing yunus as a world leaders in innovating microsolar knowledge (for the whole story chat with neville williams or bob freling whose learnong curve on clean energy started back with Presisnt Carter- there I met the bbc broadcaster of oceans and polar explorer paul rose- he had lots of missing cuuricula cases he hoped yunus and frends would empower youth to link in

  • 254 views5 years ago
  • in 2011 back at a skoll oxbridge keynote yunus saud sak khan inspires my belief we only need one global univetrsityu of syatinability0 the one with gthe nest cases to keep on benchmarking - imagine one mooc on demand- where cases cold chaalenge ech other until millions of students clarifies which worled where

by 2011 cnn's ted turner had asked yunus to run youth entrepreneutr piotches acrioss several states with the aim of a grand finale in atlanta to become a metahub for everything yunus- there on a judging panel i met astronaut ron garan who wanted to open source curricula on cooperation

back in bangladesh there are many hidden goldmines of learning but its a pity the western world never seemed to want to study them - take eg the repository of brac uni

7 wonders of education's world record job creator Jack Ma tag #j1 #j2 #j3 #j4 #j5 #j6 #J7 ideas on how to create momnets with tags welcome at norman macrae foundation

In 2016 (year 10 of Norman Macrae student (valuetrue media journalism clubs),students found that in china, 5000 of the most energetic graduates are asked to spend a year serving china- this involves living in villages/heartland for a year and auditing what tech apps and other missing infrastructures or education the villagers need next- these findings are brought back to tsinghua (student home of china capitalsm waves 2 to 10 started with xi jinping end poverty alumni networks in 1988 -see his book out of poverty) .

Tsinghua is where students continuously update the curriculum of village (which jack ma calls taobao university) development and 80 million public servants ar expected to linkin and learn , and when they wish leaders of nations are welcome to ask jack to demonstrate a 3000 person day long mastercalss such as canada's gateway17, and detroit's

WE aim to classify the race to livelihood education by the 7 wonders of Jack Ma- at the education commisison of 20 national leaders concerned with the gatest#learing generation jack said his concern is halff of all youth evertwhere will be unemployable unless we take education beyond the clasrsroom and value livelihood training networks- please help us with 7 J dimensions-to olympics 2020 we will take these 7

jack's 1994-2019 quest to understand how www can create jobs and maximise sme value chains is sandwiched by his search for livelihood education- until 1994 and from age 10 he was self-taught english teacher, tourist guide at hangzhou throuigh which he loved to explore innovations of the outside world and he linkedin tjousand of young peers to celebrate china friendships with peoples of the world- we first started tracking jack when he challenged muhamamd yunus in 2008 to race to ne first to create netw100 million jobs

#j1 edutech- how can tech chnage education to value girls and boys?-  subquestions1.1 relationshsips between fintech and edutech 1.2 reporting future of digital cooperation with UN on expert panel including melinda gates and 20 digital experts linked to jacks role in geneva as UN youth liveihood entrepreur 1.3 links with friends of jack ma's back from the future research (Big Data small .AI G5 Blockchain Fab IOthings ...)including his own famo academy 15 billion dollar r&d acrss youtech cities paraleleed eg by IR3 hubs (beijing tokyo san frncisco) of geneva hq's charles schwab of wef

#j2 education ending inequalities- edu-rural edu (already foundations in china)-girls edu (many connections with girl empowerment)-for people with relatibe loss of one or more senses (eg the specialists - a network creatking mkillion jobs for youth with autism)

#j3 loveq= jack wants to change the cultural interaction between children, teachers, parents and communities- in nordica they have ended standard exams and howework but thats because outside classroom communities are safe; in old education a child can go all through school and never open space for co-creativity teamworking- yet this is what humans can do better than the artificial intelligences- also every quality of being that  western macroeconomics calls too intangible to value- from parenting to arts in the community etc  -is valued most wherever intergenetaional trust and invetsment is bonded in loveq; loveq is also the opposite extreme to iq metrics- much research on all the postive human energies of EQ emotional intelligences connect IQ and LQ

#j4 linking olympics and other world stage celebration of youth can help alumni of jack change goals of local and global networking, bringing a new valuation of under 30s liivelihhods and SD goals- jack has explained at least 2 reasons for sponsoring olympic series tokyo beijing paris LA- 1 celebrating all youth not just supetrstars impact on communities- sports health arts fashions etc- why not a global expo of solutins like or circbleu? 2 putting on his hat as redesigning market (value chain) purposes to maximise SME sustainability -the olympics and its big data platforms enables jack to help redesign margets that ecoommeerce and efinance alone dont reach including philanthropy, green , tourism

#j5 looking at new ways includineg peer to peer to make 4 languages 10 times more affordable as chidren grow up- coding, chinese, english, mother tongue- jack's life experience has lived ways practice networks are much more efficient than classroom in skilsl that connect people and cultures;

also by redesigning language learning will provide clues on other expensive or missing curricula- the lancet repoorts teen and ptre-teen heath is a huge issing curricula because its best done by youth (a continutaion of montessori if you will)- there are as bangaldeh girl mepowermemt community-building natons shows ways to build last ,ile helath services that atre 10 tiems more economical including making nursing almost free to study

#j6 education Belt Road and bridging every win-win trading route- this helps us map 2 things- contects of livelihhoid education prioriteis are very different- go south west of china- girl empowerment and ultimately with china where half of world live- go east link with nations who can parner in edutech- goi north and west - huge lands and so both green and security chalenges as well as youth deperately wanting to share across communities that may be hundreds of miels apart- nowhere are exchange and coorepartion curricula more exciting than across remote communitues linked more by being oin the arcticv citcle than national jurisdiction

#j7 with 4000 times moore what else can only everyone being both lifelong teacher and student enable us all to thrive as we go green and linking 4000 times moore communication tech 2030 versus 1946- back in 1972 we predicted that as we now go well over 1000 more tech half of the most valuable knowhow will be new every 5 yeras- this makes backwar examined referential sioloiised acadmic education the last system in the world to trap students and debt in - dont you feel?

many of j1-j7 interact- we will try and show where successful education movements such as girl empowerment interact many J's
