sample fall 2014

I think some of you already know each other- eg anna hosts annual education and real microcreditsummit out of san diego and jean-claude of www.puddle.com was a keynote speaker

meanwhile I first met anna at global microcreditsumit spain 2011 when zasheem and I were trying to handout 2000 copies of journal of social busihess questioning what had been learnt in first 15 years of microcreditsummit;

nazrul has been trying to help spain regenerate communities and jobs for nearly 10 years now having previously been a grameen bank manager in bangladesh; I first met nazrul while he was accompanying mrs begum to get a prize from the spanish speaking womens networks of the UN

part 1 of this mail is to you as I know you are already all actively working with hispanic and catholic people every day

======================================================

and, well my reason for writing is conversation just had with bernardo- his curriculum changing how business is taught is getting traction through major catholic universities in the americas; the communications flows of this remind me of social activist networking work in brazil in 2000  where we found that water curricula last chance of sharing with the peoples was through the catholic church who declared a year of water

=============================================================

part 2 wider circulation list

also originally when in glasgow 2010 a few weeks after my fathers death zasheem thought yunus and adam smith scholars and the principal of glasgow university (who is italian - Muscatelli) to develop 21st C curriculum of economics doing proud to both yunus and adam smith  (also glasgow university being alma mater of sir fazle abed and origin with zasheem of free nursing college model)

NEXT YEAR

could all catholic  universities join in and if so how could this change the  rime networks that we have come across including club of rome, nobel peace summits, fashion 4 development vogue italy, IFAD and more?

and will any of our elearning relationships have advanced - eg the elearning satellite www.yazmi.com or the declared interest of the world a bank open learning ca,pus to search out missing action learning modules millennials now most need

Very interesting

I wonder if we could find a few more stories to explain why 99% of academics chained to conventional systems will never understand this in gandhi's or gore's or churchill's whole truth sense

for example a key hypothesis of the scottish and keynsian economics school before world war 2 was

peace and health generate strong economies not vice versa -it is interesting that youth charters to nobel peace laureates demand

1 Dear Nobel Laureates,
We promise to advocate the importance of changing the way that history is
taught, learned, and understood by youth around the world. The importance
of conceptualizing history through peace rather than war is a factor that
could serve to eradicate the perpetual legacies of disaster currently
engrained in so many education systems.
If I were yunus i would particularly ask japanese youth to advance this change because they could still have more cultural impact than we in west can

2 For those who still hope for peace out of russia and its west- understanding why gorbachev backed both soros open society and nobel peace summit out of rome is critical

3 For those who have actually studied gandhi's or mandela's peaceful resistance methods  (now desperately needed out of hong kong in chinese context) the secret was change education modalities and networks before youth marches/sit ins are used against authorities. ( Its interesting that china's berners lee doesnt believe that eg twitter or facebook can ever "spring" a generation's freedom out of china -he does believe that if big data can simultaneously be mobilised for the masses that can change everything making a network like grameen intel need to choose what apps it goes public with very carefully as far as eastern movement goes)

4 Adam Smith's core freedom on education was never ever let one group of people certify which of youth are most brilliant- however government run education and certification monopolies do just that - worse as history shows the MBA was not an entrepreneurial curriculum of business it was sponsored entirely by banks that wanted to become to big to fail (ie so big in lobbying power that democracy would fail before banking did)

we could make a longer list but because of these different cultural contexts my conclusion is:
 neither is there much chance of yunus curriculum being understood unless you seek out the approach and partner carefully- worst of all in my view most schools of social entrepreneurship have become massive   greenwashing movements- - bill drayton has never been up for total value chain transformation - of energy, of banking, of education .... its not in his intellectual compass

Abstract Social Business: A Change of Paradigm or Just another Philanthropy Cause
This work will relate to all the experiences that the Social Business School (SBS) has had in Latin America and other countries in the world and how Social Business is understood. Social Business (Social Media Networks), (Prof. Yunus), (Social Work), (Socialist political thought). What we can say from our experience is: That there are countries governments which looks Social Business in terms of political gains of votes, governments focused on promoting an utopic view of the economy i.e. if we introduce certain mechanisms - Porter ‘clusters’, ‘agglomeration effects’, Florida’s particular version of ‘creative economy’ ‘Social Solidarity Economy’. The truth is that under this system Classic Economics the profits have been corporatized and the losses socialized, i.e. the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, it is children who are paying the price for this economy. In New Zealand 270,000 children live below the poverty line; promote corporate gain through funding a railway believing that will solve the poverty problem.  What is shocking is that no academics are speaking out - no critique, no alternative point of view - it is accepted that this is the new order of 21st century. Academics, some of who claim to be actively researching social business, there is no understanding of what social business is. They are actually researching and promoting social enterprise, i.e. people finding ways to make a corporate profit out of fulfilling some social need. They have all read Prof. Yunus but they either don’t understand or don’t believe it could work in New Zeeland (NZ) and other countries.
At the same time governments are also promoting social enterprise for Not for Profits because Less Develop Countries, emerging Nations, BRIC, NZ, has low levels of philanthropy like many countries in Latin America (Latam) and Africa. Ministries of Social Development, they hadn’t heard of social business. But as soon as it is explained Prof. Yunus model, there was a desire to set up a social business fund and promote it in the community. When explained social business to university leaders they said this is what our country needs, and then suggested to talk to academics in department such as social development - not business! This is very important - Business Schools are not taught social models of society, all they are taught about is capitalism. We believe this is why the academics can’t understand Yunus model. If we want social business to thrive we need to start in the community, not with the academics; especially natives, the Maori, Mapuches, Araucanos, Rapa Nuies, Quechuas, Amazonians and pacific communities because this is where poverty is concentrated, the ethnic bias of poverty is another talk people would like to ignore. With the support of the high ranking decision makers, we can include academics as researchers and assistants, but these people will come from depts. like the Maori and all the above cultures studies, where there is a commitment to helping people built into the core values of the education. People who need it most are the people who will embrace social business and become its greatest champions because these people hate hand-outs, they want to solve their own problems with dignity, and they have the wisdom, the creativity and so to do so, they are currently underprivileged because of institutional racism. The intellectual issue we face is that economists and business people do not have a ‘no growth’ model for planning the economy, but sustainability requires addressing this issue. How do we improve the quality of life for everyone in the community without continuing to pillage the environment and exploit cheap labor. There are brilliant example of the bureaucratic muddle-headedness - it says it wants to become one of the world’s leading examples of sustainability, and the first thing it does is says we need to grow the population by nearly 100% what is sustainable about that? We know the Yunus model works; there is a long history of exciting results. The reason it is not being embraced in NZ, latam and other countries is for political not economic, reasons, governments and big business need to control the economy and they see poverty as a natural outcome of their policies and procedures. There is no concept of equity, if there are winners, there must also be losers, and it is very convenient that most of them remain status quo. When Social Solidarity Economics is the issue everybody understands, maybe be might choosing the wrong path.

Dear ...
Thank you very much for answering, I did send Draft Abstract to the email you are indicating, the State of the Art is very vague and what is being done at CUCI is not public; therefore I am basing my paper on Dr. Krzemizkca premises (attached).  I w`ll  then explain our situation, in Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, South Africa and New Zealand and future steps. Raising the Question if there will one point that we can all work together.
Respectfully yours,

Bernardo Javalquinto
