leon botstein and greatest educators of sdg youth
Leon Botstein and greatest educators of sdg generation

60 years from 1970 have witnessed the greatest human development miracle ever and may yet spiral the greatest human disaster

The miracle I refer to is solution to schumacher’s keynian challenge – ending poverty is mainly a challenge of developing millions of villages

This miracle was due to extraordinary hard work and collaboration by the world’s billion poorest mothers

In this context , village refers to a big continemts inland community with no access to electricity grids

Even as https://aiforgood.itu.int/united-nations/wfp/was racing to the moon a majority of humans especially on the continent of asia where two thirds of people live still had no access to electricity grid; in turn this meant communications networks were wholly person to person or via printed documents which most villagers could not read

The simplest way to understand this human development miracle is to chronicle solutions scaled through each decade 1970 1980 1990 2000 2010

While the knowledge came initially from America via japan and other far east islands; Bangladesh became the deepest end poverty partnership lab. 1970 had started badly in the region with 3 by one million-killing events

The most local cyclone ever

Civilian/refugee dislocation during war of indepence of banglash

A famine that killed a million people

Curriculm 1 - Before we start this tour we should say that while Bangladesh was the 9th most populous nation, village mothers of southern china were an even bigger population. Both invented and shared with each other solutions to ending extreme poverty; both changed local rural cultures from women are for breeding children to women’s productivity is even more relevant to nation building than men. Both had to overcome tropical climates posing infants and mothers killer diseases that much of the rest of the world had long since defeated or so it seemed. Even though village mothers in both countries worked equally hard- china was soon to see huge inward investment from what was becoming the third wealthiest financial network- the diaspora Chinese. Bangladesh had no such advantage – its diapora did help with large remittance flows but they had no trading wealth. The bay of Bengal had gone from the busies world trade bay in asia to middle of 19th century to a bay that most interhemisphere shipping bypassed.

How the world got to this stage of inequality in sharing machines is explained by how London (qnd engish language) became the dominant capital over more than 3 centuries from mid 1500s to mod 1800s.

Curriculum 2 See History lesson of old world’s 6 trading bays and transatlantic pond including maps of the tri continent of Europe-asia -africaplus a few pesky islands to the far north west Ireland and Britannia to the far north east the isands of japan

Curriculum 3Why might 2020s turn out to be human development’s  terminaly disatrus decade

to understand each decade of miracles from the viewpoint of the poorest but biggest parenting network -asoan village women, you need to check in with what your family ree observed locally from any of these historic periods

0-1500 before old world discovered new world

1500-1760 before humans discovered machines

1760-1945  before humans gave birth to united nations as an opportunity to transform beyond world wars as the compound consequence of mercantile industrial empires not valuing most lives as mattering

1945-1970 where new technologues seemed to offer hope- eg if man could land on moon would any mission on earth be impossible?

in assessing what your family brings to human development learning curves, if you only speak english or a western language you need to ask what does my cultural world have difficulty in seeing that asians as two thirds of the world may see another way round

the strange story of scots and irish- one of the simplest ways of exploring asians sustainability needs is to ask what if anything did the rise of the british empire 1500-1875 change where you lived - scots/irish have one insight as they were colonised by london from early 1700s, and it was into this conext that adam smith wrote 2 books- attemping to map the world before machines -1758 moral setiments; the world wherever machines reshaped nations; the first lifelong diary from an asian viewpoint is gandhi's ; born 1869 near the most westerly coastline of today's map of india, he traveled to london spending his last days as a teenager as a first year student at the bar of london- he was trying to learn what no college in india could teach; it took another 18 years of lifes experience to realise that british empire laws were the cause not the solution of all his peoples poverty traps; he spent the secong half of his life doing 3 things: reinventing education in india from the ground up round skills learning with montessori wherever opposite to being examined on thee being only one correct theory; he used his fame built from 3 hemispheres of engaging peoples - india, south africa, britain to argue for changing the very rules of justice; he created the movements that made britain who had become the biggest financial loser of world war rush into legaslating the independence of the indian sub continent;

if understanding how tp free peoples by changing legal constitutions and how childrens time is spent were lessons gandhi alumni help the human race understand, fazle abeds travels 70 years laer as a teenager from the far east corner of the old british empire in india  to study engineering glasgow turned out to be inteegral economically and for deepest innovations in human development

if gandgi and abed make core guides to advancing lives of the quarter of people born on the indian subcontibent; it seems vital to understand emergent human freedoms at least two other asian stories of going beyond world wars were vital from 1945-1960; the far east inslands eg japan taiwan hk, singapore to which the south korean penisular was also positioned to leap forward thanks to american support 1950-3 ; the desires of the chinese people from the time of moon landing- from that moment on this fifth of the worlds population wanted to come out to the world closed to them for over a century due to british empires opium war of 1860, and to be free of the dismal paradigm tha stain's russia had been trying to force on its biggest neighbor

its in this melting pot that a billion asian mothers 1970 to 2020 innovaed the greatest miracle of partnering sustaind human development -oe that goes so deep in loving last mile community service that it offers something for every community building network of the 2020s to be inspired by

the strange story of scots and irish- one of the simplest ways of exploring asians sustainability needs is to ask what if anything did the rise of the british empire 1500-1875 change where you lived - scots/irish have one insight as they were colonised by london from early 1700s, and it was into this conext that adam smith wrote 2 books- attemping to map the world before machines -1758 moral setiments; the world wherever machines reshaped nations; the first lifelong diary from an asian viewpoint is gandhi's ; born 1869 near the most westerly coastline of today's map of india, he traveled to london spending his last days as a teenager as a first year student at the bar of london- he was trying to learn what no college in india could teach; it took another 18 years of lifes experience to realise that british empire laws were the cause not the solution of all his peoples poverty traps; he spent the secong half of his life doing 3 things: reinventing education in india from the ground up round skills learning with montessori wherever opposite to being examined on thee being only one correct theory; he used his fame built from 3 hemispheres of engaging peoples - india, south africa, britain to argue for changing the very rules of justice; he created the movements that made britain who had become the biggest financial loser of world war rush into legaslating the independence of the indian sub continent;

if understanding how tp free peoples by changing legal constitutions and how childrens time is spent were lessons gandhi alumni help the human race understand, fazle abeds travels 70 years laer as a teenager from the far east corner of the old british empire in india  to study engineering glasgow turned out to be inteegral economically and for deepest innovations in human development
